Vidyut Jammwal and Pooja Chopra came together for the first time in Dilip Ghosh’s Commando: A One Man Army. Pooja played the spirited and bubbly Simrit whereas Vidyut was the composed and serious Capt. Karanvir Singh Dogra. Simrit’s chirpiness added humour to the plot, and Karan was the perfect partner to calm her down when need be. Their chemistry in the film is palpable.
1. Karan rescues Simrit
Simrit tries to escape her village but is chased down by a bunch of goons. Karan steps in just in time and rescues her, while beating the bad men bloody. Simrit is impressed by Karan’s fearlessness. Vidyut’s acting skills in this scene will leave you in awe.
However, we are taken aback when instead of thanking Karan, Simrit yells at him. She says that he has made her escape even more difficult now, as the goons would continue to chase her down. This scene is fun as Simrit is flabbergasted while Karan can’t seem to wrap his head around whatever is happening. Lol! She forces him to accompany her and make her reach Pathankot safely.
2. Simrit can’t stop talking
It’s here where we see Simrit coming in her element. After crossing the border, she breathes a sigh of relief and apologises to Karan for reprimanding instead of thanking him for saving her. Simrit is blabbering non-stop throughout the bus journey and is trying to make Karan talk. However, he maintains a stoic silence. This is scene is cute as we see Simrit and Karan’s polar-opposite personalities. She throws some heavy-duty digs at Karan, for which he has no comebacks.
3. Simrit imitates Karan
Simrit is alone and uses this opportunity to have some fun. She imitates Karan, without realising that he is standing behind her, watching her every move! The minute Simrit notices him, she stops and walks towards him coyly. This scene is funny and adorable, all at once.
4. Saawan Bairi
This is one of the most beautifully picturised songs we have seen. It features Simrit and Vidyut in dreamy locations and the sufi feel of Saawan Bairi only adds to the magic. The two share sizzling chemistry here, reminding us of Shah Rukh Khan – Kajol in Suraj Hua Maddham from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Katrina Kaif-Ranbir Kapoor in Tu Jaane Na from Ajab Prem Ki Gajanb Kahaani.
5. The introduction
After spending so much time together, it’s only towards the end of the film where Simrit and Karan formally introduce each other and declare their love. This scene is sweet and simple as the two share a hug, without saying much.
They say opposites attract and these characters are a perfect example. Agree? meanwhile
