JP Dutta’s Paltan marked the completion of India’s biggest war-trilogy. And the film incited the same feeling that Border and LOC Kargil had some years ago. But, unlike the previous two (that focused on wars between India and Pakistan), Paltan was based around the issues between India and China. As we know, JP Dutta is celebrated for the authenticity and vision that his films portray, we have to give it to the cast who actually pushed their limits when they shot for the film. Paltan had an ensemble cast including Jackie Shroff, Arjun Rampal, Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Choudhary, Harshvardhan Rane, Siddhanth Kapoor, Sonal Chauhan, Esha Gupta, Dipika Kakar, and the film’s shoot was quite intense.
For those who don’t know, a schedule of Paltan was shot in Ladakh. And you would be aware that Ladakh is shut post-September due to harsh weather conditions. However, for Paltan’s shoot, it was specially opened. In fact, certain reports stated that the locals from the city were included in the crew as they offered to help the team shoot in such extreme conditions. Reports also added that, despite the dropping temperature that had even gone to minus 26 degrees, nobody from the team gave up.
We must say their efforts paid-off quite well, and if you haven’t watched the film yet, let me tell you, it is based on the Nathu La-Cho La military clashes that happened between India and China along the Sikkim border in 1967. The film tells us the story of the unsung heroes from the Indian forces who greatly faced these intense situations. Directed by J P Dutta and produced by Zee Studios, Paltan released in September this year.
In the meantime, watch Ranveer Singh’s film Simmba on ZEE5 and enjoy a fun-filled weekend with your family.
