Kabir Thapar’s directorial debut for ZEE5 is winning hearts and awards! At the Dadasaheb Phalke Awards 2020 that took place at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival, some of Zee’s properties shone brightly as they took home the coveted trophy. Right from Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya to ZEE5’s Kaafir, many shows and films were recognised and awarded for bringing forth commendable content. Among the winners is Moh director Kabir Thapar.
The filmmaker, who made his debut with Moh, received the Best Director trophy for the film. We got in touch with Kabir regarding the same and the excited filmmaker stated how it is a privilege to receive such a prestigious award. He told us exclusively, “Feel privileged to have won the award for my first feature film. I had to follow up a lot and go here and there a lot. Finally, ZEE5 came along but it did take me around 3 to 4 months to get the project going.” He also told us about some of the challenges that Moh faced during the shooting days as they had to extend it. However, looks like it all worked out fine! Moh has received good reviews from films critics as well.
Moh is an emotional drama starring Adah Sharma, Sheeba Chaddha and Micky Makhija in pivotal roles. The story revolves around a carefree girl, Shruti, who loses sight of what she already has while chasing her big dreams. It narrates the tale of how Shruti’s busy life sees an abrupt halt and how she faces the demons of depression. Avoiding overdramatization, Kabir’s Moh, with its simplified take on life and emotions is poignant and is sure to leave an impression on you.
On asking about his next project he told us, “I’m working on a feature film script. It is a romcom, more like a family entertainer. I’ll take four more months to complete the script.”
If you love short films, don’t forget to watch Taapsee Pannu and Amit Sadh’s Baarish Aur Chowmein on ZEE5.
Also, as Dadasaheb Phalke Awards 2020 will be aired live on February 20, 2020 on ZEE5, do not miss it!
