EXCLUSIVE: Sunny Leone On Working In Hollywood: India Is My Home

After a brief but immensely popular stint in a reality TV show, the Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story of Sunny Leone star entered Bollywood in 2011.

Karenjit Kaur Vohra, better known by her stage name Sunny Leone, has seen the good, bad and ugly of entertainment world. From a middle-class girl Gogu, she became a famous adult movie entertainer in the West and eventually arrived in India in 2011. After a brief but immensely popular stint in a reality television show, Sunny was flooded with film offers from Bollywood. She made her debut with Pooja Bhatt’s Jism 2 in 2012.

Seven years on, Sunny has become a household name. Almost everybody in India knows her or has heard of her, whether they love Sunny or hate Sunny is a different debate altogether. In all these years she bagged some critical-commercial hits and flops along with massively hit item numbers to her credit. And given the current tide flowing towards the west, does Sunny plan to go to Hollywood? In an exclusive conversation with us, Sunny revealed, “I have no interest or plans to go there. Other than this beautiful home that I own, that I never see, this is my home. And the last puzzle piece is now here, our dog, she’ll live out her happy last days here because she is old, and you know, this is what I consider home.”

Sunny, who was the ‘Most Googled’ celebrity in India in 2017, recently narrated her life story through ZEE5 original Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story of Sunny Leone. The web series is a biopic on the highs and lows of Sunny’s much-anticipated life. The first season focused on how a Sikh girl Karenjit became Sunny Leone and entered a world forbidden by her loved ones. The second season showed us how Sunny’s decision impacted her bond with her parents, the emotional trauma they all went through and the tragic death of Sunny’s mother.

Before season two went on a break, we also saw Daniel enter Sunny’s life in the digital drama. In the upcoming finale of the season, we shall witness Sunny and Daniel’s wedding and the beginning of a new journey for the star.
