Sonam Kapoor Ahuja joined the likes of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha as she graced Arbaaz Khan’s show Pinch. The chat series has been garnering attention for celebrities’ unabashed answers about Bollywood, trolls and their personal self. Sonam, who in fact is known to never mince a word and speaking with brutal honesty, brought firecrackers along. The Pad Man actress spoke about being body-shamed during her growing years.

When asked what pinches her about or on social media, Sonam replied that her family is “very sacred” to her and thus, anything about them is hurtful. Besides, people commenting about weight affects too. “I know Anushka and Sonakshi went through a lot of body-shaming. I find that very mean. Because, that can make you feel very insecure about yourself. Especially when you are an actress, you have people looking at you. And judging you, about the way you look, about the way your body is, or skin colour whatever. The mentality needs to change.” commented Sonam.

Talking about her own experience, Sonam added, “Till I was a certain age, I was called Giraffe because I was too thin. And then I gained weight, then I had a hard time with my weight. Sometimes, you don’t put on weight, then people are like, “Oh my God, itni patli hai, so thin” blah blah blah. Especially when you come from Punjabi family, and they feed you so much you gain weight, then they are like, bahot moti ho gayi hai, kaali ho gayi hai, lambi ho gayi hai, shaadi kaun karega?” It’s not healthy, it’s not correct, it’s not mentally okay. People go through so many mental health problems, you can’t do that to people.”
