#TastyTuesday: 5 Chocolate Recipes To Savour On A Monsoon Morning

There is something about the rainy season that makes us reach for a cup of hot chocolate. Here are some chocolate recipes you can try at home!

1. Hot chocolate with marshmallows

Aaj baarish ho rahi hai, it’s raining, it’s raining! Monsoon is the perfect time to brew a hot delicious serving and everything about the season makes us crave for chocolate. However, given the heavy downpour, it might be nearly impossible to step out. Thus, we have rounded up five recipes you can easily make at home and enjoy on a rainy day.

Nothing spells comfort quite like a cup of hot molten chocolate. Follow this simple recipe and bask in the delight of it.

Ingredients: 2 cups of milk, ¼ cup sugar, 2 bars of dark chocolate, marshmallows for topping, chocolate stick for garnishing

Method: 1) Heat 2 cups of milk. 2) Add 1/4 cup of sugar and keep stirring. 3) Now add dark chocolate cubes into the milk. 4) Keep stirring until the milk thickens. 5) Turn off the heat and pour the hot chocolate into a mason jar. 6) Add Marshmallows and garnish it with a chocolate stick.

2. Chocolate brownie

Ingredients:  250 gms butter, 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 2 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla essence, 1 cup cocoa, 1/4 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt, butter & flour to grease the baking tray.

Method: 1) Add butter to a hot pan and let it melt. 2) To this, add a cup of flour and a cup of sugar. 3) Mix well and add two eggs to the mix. 4) Mix well and add vanilla essence and give it another mix. 5) Now add in some cocoa powder. 6) Mix till the whole batter forms a gooey consistency. 7) Now add in some baking powder and salt. 8) Mix well and keep aside. 9) Grease a baking tray with some flour and butter. 10) Pour the mix in the tray and lay it out evenly with the back of a spatula. 11) In a pre-heated oven, bake for 35 mins at 180 C.

3. Oreo parfait

Let an oreo parfait take care of your sweet tooth. It’s very easy to make and tastes absolutely delicious.

Ingredients: 10 oreo biscuits, 400 Gms whipped cream, 2-4 cherries for garnishing.

Method: 1) Take a bowl of whipped cream & add icing sugar to it 2) Keep whipping till both are mixed nicely 3) Add some crushed oreo biscuits to the above mix & mix well 4) In a jar, spoon 1 tbsp of crushed oreo biscuits 5) On top of this, spoon in another tbsp of the cream mix 6) Keep layering till your jar is full 7) Top with some cherries & dig in right away!

4. Chocolate roll

Hunger pangs can be difficult to control especially when a craving kicks in and leaves your mouth watering. Thank god for Sanjeev Kapoor, the renowned chef has shared several quick recipes to savour during such times. One of them is a chocolate roll. Let’s get to the recipe without much ado:

Ingredients: 3-4 cups of refined flour (maida), 1 tsp baking powder, 2 tbsp of powdered sugar, a pinch of salt, 2 eggs, 2-3 cups of milk, a few drops of vanilla essence, 1 1/2 cups of grated dark chocolate, 2 tbsp fresh cream, 2 tbsps honey, 4 tbsp butter.

Method: 1) Take refined flour with powdered sugar, baking soda, and salt in a bowl and mix. 2) Break eggs into another bowl and beat. Add milk and vanilla essence and mix well. Now add this to the flour mixture and whisk properly. 3) Heat a non-stick pan/tawa, take a ladleful of batter and spread evenly. 4) Add butter on the sides of the pancake, flip to turn sides and remove in a plate when both sides are done. 5) Take dark chocolate in a bowl and heat until it melts. Whisk the chocolate and add fresh cream and honey, mix well. 7) Apply the chocolate cream mixture on the pancake, fold into two. You can also cut it into small rolls. Serve hot.
